ForgeShape Privacy Policy
ForgeShape processes your 3D models on your device. The app does not operate developer analytics, advertising, user accounts, or a cloud AI service, and it does not upload your models to developer servers. Files leave the device only when you explicitly share them or save them to a location you choose.
What data does ForgeShape collect?
ForgeShape does not collect or transmit personal data to the developer and does not include advertising or developer analytics SDKs.
- No ForgeShape account or sign-in
- No behavioral analytics, advertising, fingerprinting, or cross-app tracking
- No upload of STEP, IGES, STL, OBJ, GLB, 3MF, measurements, repair results, or exports to developer servers
- No cloud AI, remote inference, or developer-hosted geometry processing
- No sale of personal data
Your files may leave the device only when you explicitly use a system feature such as Share, a save panel, or a cloud-backed Files location. Those destinations are selected and controlled by you, and they are governed by the destination’s own terms.
How are models processed?
Import, inspection, print-preparation checks, mesh and CAD-lane repair, measurement, preview rendering, format conversion, and optional Reverse to CAD are performed locally. Core work does not require a ForgeShape server or an internet connection.
When you choose a file, the app receives access through Apple system file-selection APIs and creates an app-managed working copy in its sandbox. Repair and conversion operate on that working copy and on in-memory geometry. ForgeShape does not overwrite the original file you selected.
If the source is in iCloud Drive or another file provider, that provider may download or synchronize the file under its own terms; ForgeShape does not control that service.
What does ForgeShape store on the device?
The app stores:
- App-managed imported copies under
Documents/imported - Recent-model metadata (display name, extension, last opened time)
- Workspace preferences such as the 3D View / panel split, sidebar width, and sidebar visibility
On iOS, iPadOS, and visionOS, exported files are written to Documents/exported so you can open them in the Files app. On macOS, exports are written to the location you pick in the system save panel.
Removing an individual recent model or confirming Clear Recent Models removes the corresponding managed copy. Your original source file is not deleted. Uninstalling ForgeShape does not necessarily remove copies previously saved to Files, Finder, or a shared destination.
Which system permissions does ForgeShape use?
- Selected files and folders: used to open models and, on macOS, to save exports at a location you choose.
- App Documents / Files: on iOS, iPadOS, and visionOS, File Sharing lets the Files app show the app’s Documents folder, including imported copies and exported files.
How can I remove locally stored data?
Use the recent-model controls to remove one managed model or confirm Clear Recent Models to remove all managed recent copies. Delete exports from Files or Finder. Uninstalling the app removes its sandbox according to the operating system.
Because ForgeShape does not maintain a developer account or developer-hosted personal-data store, there is no server profile to request or delete.
Who is responsible for this app?
ForgeShape is published by Iu Way (foowei.com), an independent developer, who is the controller for any personal data this app would process.
Because checking, repair, conversion, measurement, and export all run on your device, and because the app operates no account system, no analytics, and no developer server, no personal data is collected or transmitted to the developer. There is accordingly no profile to access, correct, export, or erase.
Contact for privacy questions: iuway@foowei.com. Users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom also have the right to lodge a complaint with their national data protection supervisory authority.
How will this policy change?
This policy may be updated when product behavior, platform permissions, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the current version.
Does ForgeShape upload my models?
No. The app does not upload models, derived meshes, measurements, or repair results to developer servers. A file is transferred only when you explicitly choose a cloud-backed location or sharing destination.
What happens when I clear recent models?
After confirmation, ForgeShape removes its recent-model records and the corresponding copies inside Documents/imported. It does not delete the original files you selected.
Does repair change my original CAD or mesh file?
No. Repair runs on the app-managed copy and in-memory geometry. Exports are new files you save. The source file on disk is left unchanged.
Why can the Files app see ForgeShape documents?
On iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro, the app’s Documents folder is visible in Files so you can retrieve imported copies and exported STL, 3MF, OBJ, GLB, or STEP files. Those files stay on the device unless you move them.
How do I contact the developer about privacy?
