Print-ready mesh vs CAD solids
A slicer needs a closed, consistently oriented triangle mesh. Open edges, inverted normals, thin walls, and overhangs are why a model looks fine on screen and still fails to print. STEP and IGES carry exact CAD surfaces; STL, OBJ, GLB, and 3MF are already tessellated. ForgeShape checks that evidence on device, repairs what this build can repair, and exports STL or 3MF for the slicer — or converts formats, including optional Reverse to CAD. It is not a slicer and does not generate G-code.

Which 3D file formats does ForgeShape open?
ForgeShape imports STEP, IGES, STL, OBJ, binary GLB, and 3MF models, and parses all of them on device.
What problems can ForgeShape find and repair before 3D printing?
It detects open edges, non-manifold edges, self-intersection, inverted normals, thin walls, overhangs, units, and size, then offers guided repairs: weld and stitch, fix orientation, remove duplicates, and fill small holes. Every repair can be previewed before and after, and is applied only when you confirm.
Can ForgeShape convert a mesh back into CAD geometry?
Yes. Optional Reverse to CAD turns recognized planar and cylindrical faces into analytic geometry in a STEP export. ForgeShape can also export STL or 3MF for a slicer, or OBJ, GLB, STL, 3MF, and STEP for conversion.
Are my models uploaded anywhere?
No. There are no ads, accounts, or model uploads — the work stays on your device. ForgeShape is not a slicer and does not generate G-code.
