BaudHub
Modbus RTU/TCP Serial Debugger

BaudHub

BaudHub is a native Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP debugger and serial terminal for Mac. Connect a USB-RS485 or RS232 adapter or a Modbus TCP device, read your first register value in minutes, see the exact frame behind every value, and write settings safely with automatic read-back. A built-in Modbus slave simulator lets you test a PLC, SCADA or master without hardware.

DOMAIN INSIGHT

Modbus you can verify, frame by frame

Commissioning a Modbus device usually means guessing byte orders and hoping a write landed. BaudHub shows the raw request and reply behind every decoded value, explains exception codes and timeouts in plain language, and treats writes as a deliberate act: every connection starts read-only, a write must be unlocked, previewed, sent once and confirmed by reading the register back. A built-in slave simulator lets you rehearse the same session before touching real hardware.

CORE FEATURES

Modbus master over serial (RTU) and Modbus TCP: coils, discrete inputs, holding and input registers, single and multiple writes.
USB adapters with FTDI, CP210x, PL2303 and CH34x chips, with driver guidance when an adapter needs one.
28 display formats: 16-, 32- and 64-bit integers, float, BCD, hex, binary and ASCII, all 32-bit byte orders, 0- or 1-based addresses, scaling and units.
Side-by-side decodes, raw HEX and the source frame of every value.
Frame log that explains requests, replies, exception codes and timeouts in plain language, with filters, search and CSV export.
Bus scan across unit IDs, baud rates and parity, plus a guided unit address change.
Read-only by default: writes show the exact request, need confirmation, are sent once, are read back and are kept in an audit log.
Live charts with time windows, thresholds and a link from any sample to its frame.
Modbus RTU and TCP slave simulator with several unit IDs and changing values.
Serial terminal with ASCII and HEX, timestamps, send history and recording.
Templates for SunSpec, SMA, Fronius, SolarEdge, KOSTAL, KEBA, go-e, Chint DDSU666/DTSU666, Schneider PM5xxx and Eastron SDM630, each with its source and verification status.
Stale values are marked, and the connection returns after an adapter is replugged or the Mac wakes.
Serial, TCP and Simulator workspaces, extra app instances for parallel jobs, and session export.

QUESTIONS

Which adapters work with BaudHub?

USB-RS485 and RS232 adapters that appear as a serial port on macOS, including FTDI, CP210x, PL2303 and CH340/CH341. For CH343 or CH9102, BaudHub explains which vendor driver to install.

Does BaudHub support Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP?

Yes: RTU over a serial port and TCP over Ethernet or Wi-Fi. This version does not open Modbus RTU over TCP connections.

Can I test without a device?

Yes. Start the built-in slave simulator and connect to it from BaudHub or from your own master, PLC or SCADA system.

Is writing to a device safe?

Every connection starts read-only. Writes need an explicit unlock, show the request first, are never resent automatically and are confirmed by reading the register back.

Does BaudHub collect data or need an account?

No. There is no account, analytics, tracking or advertising. BaudHub talks only to the devices you connect.
